Once you achieve it, it's yours forever, and that feeling of accomplishment is incredible. As I always say, make your own truth. "Don't believe the hype," like Public Enemy says, from those who try to bring you down; put them in a box with the dream killers and keep striving for greatness.
Overcoming challenges with grace
When I started my program, a friend told me I had three strikes against me: being a woman and black, and that they didn't want me in the program. On my first day, an instructor made a disparaging remark, and the class laughed. I left, but not in defeat. I chose my battles wisely, knowing he wanted a reaction. I let it go, focusing on my goal. You can choose to let go of negativity and focus on what truly matters.
Forge your own path
I hope you all, whether college students, high schoolers, or aspiring professionals, will be strong, stay focused, and never let someone else dictate your story. If mathematics, engineering, or information technology sparks your interest, go for it! Take it from your grandma; achieving your dreams feels incredibly good!
