My story: A journey of pioneering achievement and unacknowledged milestones
Step into my world and experience a story of groundbreaking achievement, unexpected challenges, and a persistent quest for recognition. This narrative is for my granddaughter, for students, and for anyone who has ever felt their accomplishments overlooked. How would you feel if this were your story?

Breaking barriers at Central Piedmont
Eleven years ago, I proudly made history at Central Piedmont Community College. I was the first Black man or woman to graduate from the institution with an Associate in Surveying Technology degree. This was not just a personal achievement; it was a groundbreaking moment for diversity and representation in the field.

Inspiring the next generation
I shared this story with my granddaughter as she began her first year at Central Piedmont, hoping to inspire her to strive for excellence and surpass expectations. My goal was to give her something to aspire to, not just to emulate, but to build upon and improve.

A quest for acknowledgement
Despite this significant milestone, after 11 years, Central Piedmont College has yet to acknowledge this achievement. It raises questions: are they trying to erase this part of their history? This lack of recognition, while disheartening, fuels my resolve to ensure that these stories are heard and celebrated.
"My story is a reminder that every achievement, big or small, deserves to be acknowledged and remembered."
